Now that you’re south, you’re ready to hit up the greatest attraction of them all, Petra. Petra is one of the new 7 wonders of the world and qualifies as absolute ‘do not miss’ in Jordan. It’s best to do this first while you’re full of energy as Petra is a long walk and if you do the whole thing, it will take about 8 hours. I recommend waking up as early as 6 am. The Movenpick is literally at the entrance of Petra. Have breakfast there and then go for the ultimate hike. It’s best to hire a guide at the entrance when you get your tickets. Again, drive in the evening from here, further south, to Wadi Rum to see the desert.

You’ll be at your campground the night before so you can wake up early and do one of the best adventures here like riding in a hot air balloon! You need to do this at sunrise for the best photos, but they do run them later around 11 am as well. Have some lunch then do the jeep ride and explore nearby attractions that is mostly about Lawrence of Arabia. That evening head for the sunset camel ride and then get in the car to head back up north for the spa, which let’s be honest, the best way to end a trip especially after being in the dusty desert on a camel! Drive to Ma’in Hot Spring and check in at the Ma’in Resort to get some rest.

Wake up and see the place in the day light! You’ll be shocked by the natural waterfalls, which are 45 degrees and higher. You can stand beneath it while the warm, mineral-rich water, massages your back. The water runs in the hot pools of the resort. There is a second pool which is for spa facility users only and is even more fantastic. This spa is voted the best in Jordan, so make an appointment for a Dead Sea mud wrap and olive oil massage. Spend the evening watching the sunset at one of the lowest points on earth. After that you’ll have to drive again. It’ll be hard to leave, but it’s for the best as we’ve saved the best for last. It seems like a lot of driving, but actually you can go from the furthest north of Jordan to the south in 5-6 hours so you won’t be in the car much. Drive to the Dead Sea about an hour and check into the Kempinski. Have a late dinner at their fabulous buffet.

It’s your last day sadly and you’ll be going to the airport in the evening. You could get another spa treatment or you could just do the traditional dip in the Dead Sea and see if you float, which of course you will! The salt water heals skin problems and muscle aches. You’ll be so relaxed as you head to the airport!
